Hands on for training

Vet solutions is holding a series of free workshops for users of its PremVet5 and RoboVet3 practice management systems from 4 to 6 April 2002. Running in parallel with the BSAVA Congress in Birmingham, the workshops are open to all veterinary surgeons, nurses and administrative staff involved in managing veterinary practices. The workshops will focus on helping users take advantage of the latest developments in the systems, including unique data analysis and stock control features.

"We want to help our users get tangible business benefits from their computer system," says Julian Bryan, chief executive of the specialist IT company Vet solutions. "IT can represent a considerable part of practice expenditure, so it's important that we make sure our users are given new features to enhance practice management along with appropriate training so they understand how to make these new features work for them.

"Over the past two years, Vet solutions has been responsible for training staff from over 200 practices in the UK and Ireland. We are starting our next series of courses with these daily workshops - each lasting about an hour - during Congress in April, with more regional workshops to follow later in the spring."

Vet solutions offer two practice management systems the Unix based PremVet5 and RoboVet3, designed to run on any Windows platform. Workshop participants will get the opportunity to try out the new Data Major functionality on PremVet5 which breaks new ground in the speed and ease at which a practice's business and financial information can be analysed.

RoboVet3 participants will see the improved stock control facility added to the latest version of the program, as well as new bar code scanning features to help speed up procedures at the point of sale.

"Our practice management systems are designed to be simple and straightforward to use," adds Julian Bryan. "Most people pick up the basic functions and can start using PremVet5 and RoboVet3 immediately.

"But both systems have a wide range of functions and we use our training sessions to look at specific areas that are relevant to the particular participant's business."
